CHILDREN OF GREAT LEADERS

by Zaheeruddin Babar

20th century's first half saw the emergence of great leaders, in regions where people were oppressed by European Imperial powers.  2nd World war had weakened the Imperial powers all around the world, and created an opportunity for these leaders to break the shackles of slavery and declare their independence. And many of them got succeeded.
Then these political leaders become Great Leaders or founding fathers for their people. This first generation of leaders was mostly humble and contented at whatever they had achieved and they tried to work whole heartedly to develop and strengthen their nations.
After them came the second generation of leaders who inherited the state or political legacy without any struggle. We can call them the CHILDREN OF THE GREAT LEADERS, this generation was the most AMBITIOUS GREEDY AND RUTHLESS GENERATION and they created an era which is called DECADE OF TURMOIL. They not only opposed the ideology of their predecessors but also set trends in politics which made the life of their people miserable.
The list of these Children is very long but we will discuss only one in an episode selected from a single region. Our first region is South Asia,

The child we are going to discuss from our list of “the Children of Great Leaders”  is  Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto .In General elections of 1970 his party  got 2nd position, although the difference was of just  6 million votes but he claimed the Seat for Prime Minister for himself.

The country was under the control of a Chief Martial Law Administrator.  Bhutto somehow forced the General to resign and he himself became the Martial Law administrator. World’s first civil, martial Law administrator. After that he drafted the constitution of the country and made himself a Prime minister.

Although he himself was a feudal lord but he claimed to be the proponent of a Socialist revolution and confiscated all the industry and commercial institutes of the country under the program of nationalization without giving a single penny to the owners and destroyed the country’s Industry and commercial sector once and for all. On the other hand he left the lands of feudal lords untouched thus disturbing the balance between feudal class and industrialists in the country.

Then one day he realized that he is the Muslim leader of a leading Islamic country, so he decided to unite Muslim countries into a single organization and revive the pan Islamism. The Democratic, Socialist, Muslim, Feudal Lord, Chairman, Martial Law administrator,President, Prime Minister Z.A Bhutto was overthrown in a bloodless military coup and was later hanged in a murder case.
